We are delighted to announce that our Kemwell WeatherKem Fibre Cement Board has been tested and approved as a Category A board to BS EN 12467:2012+A2 2018 (Fibre-cement flat sheets: Product specification and test methods).
The standard defines this as for “Sheets which are intended for applications where they may be subjected to heat, high moisture and severe frost”
Kemwell WeatherKem is a non-combustible fibre cement board, combining weather, moisture and fire resistance properties with high impact strength and sound insulation.
It is primarily used as an external sheathing board on both metal and timber structures of all types of façade solutions, including; residential, commercial and industrial buildings, as well as, hotels, schools, and hospitals.
Fibre cement as an exterior cladding material is very durable, low maintenance and easy to work with on-site, especially when compared to other cladding materials. Fibre cement cladding is also extremely durable due to its water resistance and because it does not rot, warp or crack, even when subject to high heat or extreme cold.
It is also resistant to termites, rodents and other pests. In addition, fibre cement board is non-combustible and is, therefore, fire-resistant and will not ignite when exposed to fire or extreme heat.
WeatherKem is especially suited to projects where quick construction, safety, cleanliness and hygiene are of high importance and is also ideal for use interior areas of high humidity, like swimming pools, spas and wet rooms.
Now that WeatherKem is tested to meet the British Standard BS EN 12467:2012+A2 2018 as a Category A Building Board it provides total confidence and more assurance to architects, project managers, developers, contractors and clients that it is fit for purpose.
Due to its superb credentials, it will meet the complex and stringent requirements of the building and construction industry and provides the adaptability and performance benefits to enable safe and innovative designs to be easily realised.
WeatherKem enables a variety of finishes due to its smooth and adaptable surface for which can be decorated with minimal preparation. The panels can be finished with laminates, foils and paints using alkaline resisting adhesives, primers and coatings.
